BIG Mission

To make a tangible difference in the lives of young kids and adolescents battling through the various stages of cancer via “Comfort & Care” initiatives, events and programs.

While B.I.G. does contribute to and support cancer related research, it compromises only a small component of our annual focus. As a result of our founder, Todd Davison’s vision and wish, our cause invests itself in creating initiatives, programs and events aimed at brightening the days and lightening the loads of young lives burdened with the rigors of fighting this formidable disease.

Three primary initiatives lead the way in helping us to touch lives in a dramatic way:

NHL Experience

Through Todd’s own personal battle with the cancer in his shoulder, he was fortunate to have met “friends” and supporters along the way, such as Mario Lemieux, Don Cherry and Martin St. Louis, all of whom played an encouraging role in his recovery and resolve to stay positive and passionate about life and to improve the battle for those left to continue to fight the fight.

Todd experienced first-hand what it was like to be encouraged and supported by those he looked up to!

Todd with Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning

When Martin St. Louis and the Tampa Bay Lightning flew Todd in to see the Lightning play in the Spring of 2005, it made a profound impact on him. Having been taken through the Lightning’s dressing room to rub shoulders with all of the players, get autographs and signed memorabilia, and watch the game from prime seats, Todd experienced first-hand what it was like to be encouraged and supported by those he looked up to! It would become the model for one of Believe’s primary initiatives under its “Comfort & Care” program.

Believe Blankets

While Todd was being treated for his cancer, one of his pet frustrations was the quality and comfort of the blankets in the hospital rooms he often frequented during his operations and chemotherapy treatments. So, in typical Todd fashion, he set out to do something about it! The Believe in the Goal Foundation continues to fullfill Todd’s vision by regularly distributing its soft and comfortable blankets to hospitals and treatment centers throughout the City, infusing an extra touch of warmth and love into the lives of many young patients whose plight Todd knew all too well.

Patient Comfort Room

In the spirit of helping to create more positive cancer patient (and family) treatment experiences, a significant portion of the charitable proceeds gained through our efforts at Believe are being set aside for Capital Fund initiatives. The objectives of these “Capital Fund” projects are to help renovate, upgrade and ultimately develop more comfortable, intimate and positive treatment facilities and environments for cancer patients and their families throughout our City and Province.

making a small difference in the lives of many

Cheery rooms, bright colors, inspirational images and comfortable furniture can go a long way to lifting the spirits of all those affected by the realities of having to deal with this formidable disease. Through more positive, uplifting and “friendly” care facility spaces and environments, Believe hopes to be able to continue making a small difference in the lives of the many whose daily challenge it is, to muster up the strength and the will to fight.
