CHRIS PRONGER
Yes, that Chris Pronger. While he might not be a popular choice outside of those who hail from Dryden, Ontario... I've always liked the way he plays. I am well aware that he is amongst the most disliked players in the game. Fine, hate on him if you wish, but in 15 years nobody seems to have been tough enough to really do anything about it. That's a long run. He's never really changed. I like that. It's old school. Forget what you think about Chris Pronger for a second... and let's take a look at the resume. He's won the Norris. He's won the Hart (the first D-man to win it since Bobby Orr in 1972). He has a cup. He once posted a plus/minus of +52... which isn't as good as Larry Robinson's +120 in 1977 but still pretty good for a big man. Then there are the international medals he's won wearing Team Canada colours. Gold in the World Juniors. Gold at the World Championships. 2 Olympic gold medals. Chris Pronger owes Canadian hockey nothing. He wins. Hockey isn't a popularity contest. I'm not afraid to say I like him as a hockey player, just like Chris Pronger isn't afraid of you or anyone you know. Old school.
